Winter Lifestyle Family Photos at Home in Charlottesville, VA: Waters

We are all spending a lot more time at home with the ones we love (though I totally realize that reality looks very different for many of us!), so I found it only fitting to share a recent favorite at-home session with the Joyce family.

If you’ve been following a while, you’ve probably picked up on that most of my family sessions occur at home…and there’s good reason for that. Though I love a great outdoor session and am totally on board for those as well, there’s something so tender about a session at home. In between these walls, you share countless laughs, many a meal, lots of Frozen movie time, exhaustion, time-outs and the thoroughly full joy that comes from growing and raising a family. It’s in your home where so many memories are made, and it provides a safe place for children to feel themselves.

As with every session, my ultimate goal is create photographs that feel true to you and help pull you into moments that you so sweetly savor.  And when the kids are grown, my biggest hope is that these photographs continue to bring you joy in a way that maybe traditional photos wouldn’t. They can bring you back to seasons that you may have forgotten (like how your littles only wanted to wear a certain color, or they scrunched their nose when they laughed…) and seasons that you ache to experience again.

This session was to celebrate Waters turning one! You may remember his sweet newborn & 6-month sessions, and it’s such fun to see how much he’s grown. And those blue eyes and red hair still kill me!
